5750 Components Ltd creates jobs and invests £3m in Knowsley operation

Merseyside firm 5750 Components Ltd has taken on new staff and invested £3m to shore up its laser-cutting operations.

5750, the specialist laser-cutting division of engineering and fabrication business WEC Group, used the seven-figure sum to move into larger 33,000 sq ft premises at Knowsley Business Park.

Located several hundred yards from its old facility, the new space offers more room and bigger offices to accommodate future growth.

5750 also took on three new sales estimators, which will allow it to offer quicker quotes and turnaround times.

Elsewhere, the £3m investment saw 5750 Components acquire a 8KW 5040 Trumpf TruLaser – a 4x2m fibre laser cutting machine that will enable it to cut larger sheets of metal and maximise productivity.

The machine is the fastest of the 24 laser cutters owned within the WEC Group business.

5750 Components director Michael Fitzgibbon said: “The investment in the new facility and state-of- the-art technology will enable us to take on more business and improve our service and lead times to customers.

“Our new factory will also give us more assembly space as well as creating additional welding capacity as we continue to recruit more welders.”

WEC Group commercial director Wayne Wild commented: “The additional capacity at 5750 is the next step of our expansion plan, which has seen us open new offices in Stafford and Glasgow over the past year.”

5750 is plotting further investment, with plans to commission a third tube laser cutting machine.
