Buy smarter and beat the Christmas rush! House purchasing expected to increase by over 200% in January

As Christmas and New Year fast approach, the housing market is preparing itself for the expected seasonal demand. With previous years’ sales data showing a huge spike in reservations and interest in January, David Wilson Homes North East is advising buyers in Middlesborough and Teesside looking to move in 2018 to instead act now to beat the festive rush.

David Wilson Homes North East saw a 269% increase in sales and reservations in January 2017 compared to December 2016, with visits to developments across the region increasing by over a third. The rise in the number of January house hunters means that competition will be high when it comes to securing a dream property after the new year.

With this in mind, November and December are set to be the ideal times to start the house buying process to avoid missing out on your pick of the properties available.

Steven Ball, Sales Manager at Grey Towers Village in Nunthorpe commented: “We see such a big increase in interest in January that often properties are snapped up before viewers get to see them. Savvy buyers would definitely have a distinct advantage by house hunting in November and December.”

David Wilson Homes has several schemes to help both first time buyers and current homeowners move in quickly and easily. The Government’s Help to Buy Scheme means buyers can purchase a brand new home up to the value of £600,000 with just a 5% deposit, thanks to a 20% loan from the government.

David Wilson Homes’ Part Exchange scheme is also available for certain properties, and offers buyers the option of selling their existing home to the housebuilder. This allows them to move with no estate agent fees or chains and making the whole process much faster and easier.

David Wilson Homes’ Grey Towers Village development in Nunthorpe is made up of three, four and five bedroom homes in traditional designs. Situated in an ideal location close to good schools and local shops, the development also benefits from easy access to beautiful countryside and walking routes.
