Blue Air announces new Mediterranean route for Liverpool airport lineup

European airline Blue Air has announced a new route at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA).

The carrier has unveiled plans to operate flights between LJLA and Palma de Mallorca in Spain’s Balearic Islands.

The news follows a competition from Blue Air, launched in October, that offered holidaymakers the chance to choose destinations for the airline’s Summer 2018 lineup.

Palma de Mallorca came in top of the poll and, as a result, the Mediterranean island will now join Blue Air’s six existing holiday spots available from LJLA, which include Rome, Milan, Alicante and several airports in Romania.

Services to Palma de Mallorca will operate twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from June 2 to September 29 next year.

Paul Winfield, LJLA’s director of aviation development, commented: “We are delighted to see Blue Air announce additional services from Liverpool and we will continue to work closely with one of Europe’s fastest growing airlines to look at other new destinations in the near future too.

“This new service gives the region’s holidaymakers a further opportunity to travel to one of the most popular destinations in Europe from the fastest easiest friendliest airport in the North West.”

Blue Air’s chief commercial officer, Tudor Constantinescu, said: “To be able to announce a brand-new route less than 12 months after our arrival at Liverpool John Lennon Airport is something that we are very proud of.

“It’s been an incredible year and we are delighted with the response that we have received from our passengers.”

Alongside the expansion, Blue Air is offering a flash sale of 15% off all its flights from the UK.
