Golf day raises £5,500 for Francis House Children's Hospice

Francis Kirk Group has held a successful charity golf day raising £5,500k for Francis House Children’s Hospice.

The event at Davenport Golf Club was the first in a series of fund-raising initiatives by the leading Denton-based engineering and fastener firm on behalf of the charity. Attracting over 80 golfers the day was packed with opportunities to win spot prizes like nearest the pin on the four par threes, longest drive on the 11th hole and Beat the Pro on the scenic 14th.

Francis Kirk attracted sponsors for every hole and sourced a great selection of auction and raffle prizes with the support of Old Trafford, Ollier Photography and Arighi Bianchi in Macclesfield.

Managing Director of Francis Kirk Group, Tom Kirk said: “The weather was perfect and we had fantastic support from players and sponsors – it was a pleasure to organise.” Francis House supports hundreds of families from across the north west of England by providing respite care for children, teenagers and young adults with life-limiting conditions.

Lucy Thompson, Events Manager for the charity, who helped run the day, commented: “The atmosphere was great and people were very generous with their donations and bids. All the money raised goes directly to the Hospice which give children and their families the care they need. We could not do it without monies raised from events like this.’’

Francis Kirk Group is a fifth generation family business and will celebrate 150 years in business in 2018.

From its purpose-built 24,000 sq ft warehouse and HQ in Denton the company stocks an extensive range of engineering products including PPE, clothing and abrasives and power tools to customers locally, nationally and internationally and has a manufacturing site in Pune, India.

Tom again: “We wanted to start a fund-raising event that we could run again next year – even bigger and better – to mark a special year for us. We were blown away by the enthusiasm of everyone who got involved.”
