Mediaworks partners with NewcastleGateshead Initiative for Enchanted Parks — The Inventors’ Ball app

This year, the annual Enchanted Parks event is themed around The Inventors’ Ball, telling the story of Ursula Wailes, heiress to the Saltwell Towers Estate. After gifting Saltwell Park to the people of Gateshead, the park was closed for many years — until 2017. Visitors to the park are invited to explore this mysterious tale in more detail between December 5th -10th 2017. To enhance the enjoyment of the event, Enchanted Parks has released a companion app for the very first time. It has been created by Mediaworks, the award-winning agency behind St Oswald’s Hospice’s Great North Snowdogs trail app. Available to download on the App Store and Google Play, the app allows users to unlock chapters of the story with each exhibit they visit and unlock. A personalisation option is also available, where users can include their names in the story and explore the adventure first-hand. In addition to this exclusive content, visitors can use the app to find out more about each art installation and the artists themselves. They can also vote for their favourites and share their own photos as they explore the trail. Speaking of the app’s creation, Mediaworks’ Creative Director Andrew Blenkinsop, said: “We’re incredibly proud to work with NewcastleGateshead Initiative on the Enchanted Parks app. This is the first time an app has been integrated with the exhibition and we’re pleased to enhance the experience for all visitors to the event.” Bob Allan, Programme Development Executive at NewcastleGateshead Initiative, also commented: “For this year’s Enchanted Parks, we wanted to create an app that would really enhance our visitor experience and it seemed fitting that The Inventors’ Ball, a story based around innovation and invention, introduced this feature as part of the event. “The app serves as both a practical resource for our visitors by enabling them to plan their trip and to get around more easily whilst in the park, but also aims to bring the story to life through immersive and engaging content – allowing people to step into the world of Ursula and her weird and wonderful inventions.” If you would like to attend Enchanted Parks — The Inventors’ Ball, visit the NewcastleGateshead website — and don’t forget to download the app too!
