BREAKING: A 'breakthrough' deal has been reached on Brexit

Brexit talks have been successful and made progress, according to European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker.

Theresa May arrived in Brussels a few hours ago, to discuss the future of the UK and EU’s relationship with the European Council’s president, Donald Tusk. It has been said an agreement has been reached.

Included in this agreement is the PM’s word that there will be no harder border for Ireland, and the rights of both UK and EU citizens will remain intact , and they will “go on living as before”.

It has been a difficult process in figuring out what will happen between the border of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

However, Northern Ireland’s Democratic Unionist Party leader, Arlene Foster, said she is “pleased” at the outcome meaning “no red line [is to go] down the Irish Sea”.

This comes after the DUP refused to draft plans on Monday (December 4) drawn up by both the UK and the EU.

The DUP say “there is still more work to be done to improve the paper”, however it has been agreed that Northern Ireland will leave the EU and the single market along with the UK.
