Downing welcomes Aurora Kitchen to The View

A new healthy eating restaurant serving mouth-watering, nutritious meals has opened at developer Downing’s student complex in Newcastle.

Aurora Kitchen has opened at the mixed-use development The View and has taken the ground floor unit at the site, which houses student accommodation in the upper levels. Aurora Kitchen has added to the growing retail and leisure offering across Downing’s student campus in Newcastle, which includes The View and Verde.

The View’s latest letting means that both of its ground floor units are now occupied, with a Tesco Express also based at the complex.

The new restaurant is owned by fitness entrepreneur Kyle Patterson and offers a range of delicious dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

John Clegg, head of property management at Downing, said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Aurora Kitchen to The View, which is perfectly located in a vibrant student area with great footfall from local residents, other businesses and from our residents.

“Downing is focused on providing a really flexible, bespoke service to our tenants, and we work alongside them to transform our units into spaces which exactly match their requirements.

“We’re expecting the kitchen to be very popular within the local community and we wish Kyle and his team the best of luck in their new venture.”

Kyle Patterson, owner of Aurora Kitchen, said: “Born from our coaching experience in our sister company, Aurora Athletic, we know how important good nutrition is. We felt Newcastle city centre lacked options for those wanting to improve their health and physique.

“We started to plan and Aurora Kitchen was born. Think of us as your daily dose of health, served fast and fresh. We’re making food that’s nutritious, balanced, tasty and convenient.”

The Aurora menu features winter-warming breakfast options such as overnight oats, topped toast, steak and eggs and a clean grill. The restaurant’s most popular dish is the Aurora Built Box, which allows diners to pick from chicken breast, salmon, pulled pork and halloumi to go with salad and side options.

The View development, which houses 444 student bedrooms, was voted Best New Building at Newcastle’s Lord Mayor’s Design Awards last year. Nicknamed the Blue Tower by locals, The View is situated within the heart of Newcastle’s bustling university quarter and is located across the road from St James’ Park football stadium.
