Manufacturing business invests more than £10m in new Barnsley facility

Balmoral Tanks Ltd, the manufacturer of water/wastewater storage and processing products, is planning to expand and invest more than £10m in a new purpose-built factory in Barnsley.

Due to open in Spring 2018, the company’s new facility will feature the latest technology and fabrication facilities to facilitate growth and expansion.

Enterprising Barnsley, the economic development arm of Barnsley Council, worked with Balmoral Tanks in providing tailored business support.

This support allowed the company to identify a range of sites within the borough for potential development; introduce the company to prospective landowners and developers; provide information on process and planning and accelerate the development.

Allan Joyce, managing director of Balmoral Tanks, commented: “Having operated for a number of years from our Wombwell facility it gives us great pleasure to site a world-leading tank manufacturing facility in Thurnscoe.

“Our £10m investment means the very latest technologies in the storage tank manufacturing sector are located right here in South Yorkshire, and we look forward to growing the company and being part of the community for many years to come.

“I’d like to express my appreciation of the assistance we received from Enterprising Barnsley in helping us throughout this project.”
