New jobs created as residential home turns into Scarborough's newest luxury hotel

A redundant residential home in Scarborough has been transformed into a new luxury hotel.

Andrew and Mica Wyatt have spearheaded the redevelopment project after securing a six-figure funding package from HSBC.

The property, previously known as St Martin’s Lodge, has been renamed The Chapel House Hotel & Restaurant.

Located in South Cliff, the new hotel and restaurant features 14 en-suite bedrooms and provides guests and the public with a restaurant and bar.

The deal was led by Martin Goodall, HSBC’s relationship manager for North and East Yorkshire, and provided the financial foundations needed to renovate the hotel and expand its business in Scarborough.

The opening of The Chapel House has created seven new jobs in the area.

Phil Look, HSBC’s area director for North and East Yorkshire, said: “HSBC is committed to supporting the growth of local businesses in Scarborough and beyond, and we’re pleased to be backing Andrew Wyatt through our dedicated lending fund, which this year totals £300m for North and East Yorkshire.

“The Chapel House Hotel is an ambitious business led by a dedicated and experienced family and we wish them all the best for the future.”

Andrew Wyatt, director at The Chapel House, added: “HSBC’s and my family’s financial backing and guidance allowed us to renovate our second property in Scarborough. We aim to provide affordable luxury accommodation in the area as well as a venue for family celebrations and business meetings.

“The Chapel House is a beautiful property, with a lot of history behind it and we look forward to welcoming guests.”

The Chapel House is a privately-owned business which will be managed alongside Andrew and Mica’s previously renovated 9 bedroom hotel “17 West Street”.
