POWNALL HALL SCHOOL SET TO UP ITS CRICKET GAME
Children at Wilmslow’s renowned Pownall Hall School are over the moon thanks to a donation of a state of the art bowling simulation machine.
The Paceman automatic bowling machine, which was gifted from local businessman, Greg Cooper, owner of Grove Street’s direct marketing and recruitment firm Digital State Group, aims to help increase the children’s enjoyment of the game.
Holding up to 12 balls and offering 10 different speeds, the clever tool will allow the school’s keen cricketers to practice their batting skills at their desired pace. The gadget can also be used indoors, allowing the children to enjoy playing whatever the weather.
Talking about his company’s gift, Cooper commented: “Sport is the great leveller of society. Cricket at youth level is one of the only sports played by mixed gender teams and with the recent successes of both men’s and women’s England cricket teams it’s a great time to build on that success at grass roots level. Pownall has a great reputation for both sporting and academic excellence and Digital State Group is proud to be able to support it.”
Pownall Hall School is extremely grateful for the generous donation and is confident it will be put to good use.
Headteacher, David Goulbourn, spoke about the school’s commitment to excellence in all areas of education.
He said: “Many of the children enjoy playing cricket for the school as well as for external clubs, so I know that this will be put to extremely good use. Being able to practice their batting skills in this way will please them no end. We’re very grateful to Mr Cooper and all at Digital State Group for the kind donation.”
The children are set to be a force to be reckoned with when the cricket season begins, next March.
