Nottingham Folk Choose a Ticket to Ride to The Beatles’ Birthplace
People in Nottingham looking for the perfect getaway have chosen the birthplace of The Beatles as their destination of choice.
Skills, the coach company based in Nottingham which has a range of pick up points in the East Midlands and South Yorkshire, organises tours across the UK, but it is its tours to Liverpool that proved to be the most popular in 2017. More passengers booked on trips to the popular North West city – the European capital of culture and home to The Beatles - than any other of its tours, with 745 people opting for a coach trip to the vibrant city.
The second most popular destination is Rhine Valley in Germany, followed by Torquay, Whitby and Eastbourne.
Nigel Skill, chairman of the company, which was founded in 1919, said: “People like Liverpool because it is a vibrant and buzzing city. There is plenty to see and do for all ages. “Rhine Valley is a close second and is a long-standing customer favourite because of its great hotel hosts – many return year after year because of this, together with the fact that it’s a beautiful destination.” Sue Sharp, who has booked on to Skill’s CoachStyle Party Break in Liverpool in January, said: “We’ve always heard so many good things about Liverpool and about the Adelphi Hotel, that once we had the opportunity to visit we snapped it up.” A spokesperson for Vision Liverpool, said: “Liverpool as a city destination is known for its culture, its sport and as both a UNESCO City of Music and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. “A compact city where walking from one attraction to another is as easy as can be, Liverpool has more museums and galleries than any other city outside of the capital – including Tate Liverpool, Museum of Liverpool and World Museum – the home of the Terracotta Warriors in 2018.
“As well as being voted the friendliest city in the UK, Liverpool is a coach-friendly city with plenty of coach parking and three coach welcome schemes in operation. These are located conveniently at Albert Dock, Liverpool ONE and Liverpool Cathedral.”
