Plans approved for first residential phase at £200m Brough South development

A Reserve Matters Planning application has been approved to build 200 new homes at Brough South, the £200m mixed-use residential, retail, leisure and commercial scheme.

Barratt Homes Yorkshire East has been confirmed as the first housebuilder at the development, after planning consent was granted by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

In total, around 750 homes will be constructed over four phases at the development on the south side of the Hull to Selby railway track.

The new homes will range from two-bedroom starter homes to detached, four-bedroom executive houses.

Brough South will also include a new primary school, healthcare facilities, a supermarket and non-food shops, family restaurants and a variety of new premises for local businesses.

The development is being brought forward by East Yorkshire property developer, the Horncastle Group PLC, on behalf of the Brough South Consortium. The consortium is made up of the developers, local landowners and developers Alma Jordan (Builders) Ltd, Riplingham Estates and BAE Systems.

Ian Hodges, managing director of Horncastle Group PLC, said: “We’re really pleased to announce that the planning application was successful, and that the first phase of residential development has been secured.

“Barratt Homes is a nationally recognised name and one that is synonymous with high quality, well designed houses which will be very much in keeping with the wider Brough South development.

“The homes, along with the leisure and retail offerings we are bringing forward, will provide a fantastic addition to this already popular and bustling East Yorkshire town, making it one of the region’s most attractive places to live.”

Peter Morris, development director of Barratt Homes Yorkshire East, commented: “We’re so pleased that the planning application for Brough South has been approved, and we’re looking forward to contributing to this significant development for the area in the coming year.”

Construction work is due to start on the homes in summer 2018, after vital land raising operations have been completed.
