Yorkshire valuers expands with new Midlands office after surpassing £2m turnover mark
Charterfields, the valuers and auctioneers, is expanding into the Midlands after achieving a 15% increase in turnover throughout 2017.
The company, which carries out valuations for corporate clients worldwide and disposes of property and business assets, has opened a new office in Buxton after breaking the £2m turnover barrier last year.
Founded in Yorkshire 25 years ago, Charterfields now employs 16 staff in Sheffield, Manchester and London.
During the past 12 months the company has held its biggest ever auction to sell the contents of the Fountain Studios in Wembley, the home of some of the UK’s most popular TV shows including the X Factor, and has sold over £1m worth of business assets and over £2m worth of property.
Charterfields has also carried out valuations of automotive plants in South America, Europe and Russia on behalf of four global car manufacturers, and a portfolio of 800-plus retail and office locations in the UK, Europe and the US on behalf of a leading fashion retailer.
In addition, the company increased its client base in the aviation sector and now covers valuations on behalf of most of the major UK airports.
Neil Warburton, who leads the Yorkshire operation, said: “All our staff have been busy throughout 2017 as buoyant demand for commercial property and plant is encouraging landlords and lenders to dispose of underperforming assets.
“Meanwhile we have seen a big increase in requests for valuations. In part this is driven by changes in the insurance market, but it also seems that big companies are taking better care of their assets and want the reassurance of up-to-date valuations.
“The UK remains a world leader in valuations and the Charterfields team is one of the most experienced in the industry. In 2018 we will continue to strengthen our presence in the regions while building our profile in the international arena.”
