Celebrity designer to create interiors for Manchester’s £154m Angel Gardens project
Lifestyle property brand Moda has entered into a partnership with a celebrity interior designer for the apartments at its flagship Manchester development.
The collaboration will see Naomi Cleaver, whose career includes TV appearances on Channel 4’s Grand Designs, create interiors for the 466 rental apartments at Moda’s £154m Angel Gardens project.
Rising to 35 storeys, the tower scheme is located within the city’s new £800m NOMA district.
Angel Gardens will comprise 520,00 sq ft of space, with on-site amenities including an outdoor private dining area, residents’ cinema, health and wellbeing space, games rooms and car club.
Naomi said: “Designing homes has something to do with buildings and everything to do with people.
“Our homes are the first thing we see when we open our eyes in the morning and the last thing we see at night.”
She added: “Moda’s ambition to reimagine the way we can live together, to live better, makes this an incredibly exciting project – unlike anything that has gone before.”

According to Moda, textured and tactile details will be central to the designs, which will feature a combination of “decadent lighting”, industrial materials and “the softness of cotton” in reference to the history of the site.
Angel Gardens was once the location of 18th-century industrialist Richard Arkwright’s Shudehill Mill, which was the first in Manchester to be powered by steam.
Speaking further, Naomi said: “Angel Gardens is a building of scale so I’m looking forward to applying the opportunities therein to create an intimate and rich experience of home – a ‘home plus’.”
Oscar Brooks, director of Moda, said of the partnership: “Naomi presented a brilliant vision for how she felt Angel Gardens should look, live and breathe as a functioning environment.
“It completely aligned with the Moda objectives to provide the very best, long-term rental properties that will create a way of living never seen before, yet taking inspiration from each city’s story and history.”
Previews of the design are due for release later this year. Angel Gardens is scheduled to open in January 2019.
