AESSEAL® Announces Support of Key STEM Event

Leading designer and manufacturer of mechanical seals and support systems, AESSEAL®, has again signed up as the main sponsor of an event which showcases science, technology, engineering and mathematics to young people, parents and educators in South Yorkshire.

Get up to Speed with STEM – or GUTS – takes place on Wednesday April 18th 2018, at Magna Science Adventure Centre and is free for all to attend.

The hugely popular interactive event is designed to showcase some of the UK’s most exciting science, technology and engineering inventions, and offers the opportunity to meet the people who design, build and operate them. Now in its eighth year and attracting more than 2,100 attendees in 2017, it brings together students, adults and employers, not just from within the region but across the UK. The aim of GUTS is to encourage young people to consider these sectors as a great place to work, by introducing them in a fun and interactive way.

John Barber, Chair of the GUTS Steering Group and Co-founder & CEO of The work-wise Foundation which organises the event, said: “We are delighted that AESSEAL® is continuing its association and sponsorship of Get up to Speed for another year. The involvement of employers such as AESSEAL® and its apprentices and graduates is what makes the event such a success. What better for young people than to be inspired by some of the region’s leading companies and those who have been there, seen it and done it.”

Stephen Shaw, Group Engineering Director at AESSEAL®, said: “AESSEAL® is proud to sponsor GUTS, which showcases the large amount of innovation, design, manufacturing and engineering in the local area. By supporting the event, we hope to engage young people with STEM subjects, thus helping to inspire future engineers We hope, through events such as this, to ignite the spark that fires up the passion, innovation and excitement of our engineers of tomorrow.”
