South East firm setting record safety standards
A South East based property maintenance specialist is helping its group to set new records for safe working.
DW Support Services, which is part of the Fastflow Group, has completed 1.6 million hours of work since the last lost time incident – a slight hand injury back in March 2016.
The company, which has its headquarters in Thame, provides planned and responsive maintenance and repairs to almost 200,000 homes owned by registered housing providers in London and across the south of the UK.
This includes projects such as fitting new kitchens, bathrooms, heating systems, windows, repairing roofs and redecoration. During busy periods this can involve over 500 employees and sub contractors.
Managing Director, Colin McMahon, said: “We have put a lot of effort into instilling the importance of safety in the workforce. Their own wellbeing and that of the communities and environments in which they work are paramount.
“Much of what we do entails an element of risk and so we have to do everything we possibly can to minimise this. I am delighted to see that these efforts are paying dividends but just because the results are encouraging, we will not be lowering our guard.”
The DWSS performance is the best in the group, which has amassed an overall total of 3.3 million safe working hours since the last lost time incident.
Fastflow Energy Services, which carries out specialist high pressure gas diversion and installation works throughout the country, has clocked up 1.2 million safe hours and Fastflow Pipeline Services, which provides water management across networks in North East England and Scotland accounts for the remaining half a million safe hours.
