Doncaster’s Lakeside Village shopping centre reports record-breaking year

Lakeside Village is celebrating after a record number of transactions were completed at the centre during 2017.

The retail outlet centre saw more than two million transactions take place at the White Rose Way site - a 16 percent increase on the previous year. Total sales were also up by two percent on 2016.

The surge in transactions and sales coincides with a year which saw more big-name stores arrive at Lakeside Village, including Ben Sherman, Skopes Menswear and the Ministry of Design.

The centre also played host to a number of major events, including its summer-long ‘Around the World Adventure’ and the Coca Cola Truck visit to Doncaster in November 2017, which saw a week’s worth of footfall – over 38,000 people – visit the centre in just one day.

John Magee, centre manager at Lakeside Village, said: “Last year was a remarkable year for Lakeside Village and we’re very proud to have ended 2017 on such a high with these strong figures.

“As more major brand names and well-known stores arrive here, more people are seeing what’s on offer at Lakeside Village and how the traditional perception of outlet shopping has changed for the better.”

During 2017 Lakeside Village raised more than £45,000 for charities including its named charity of the year, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

The year also saw the centre improve its customer facilities, with the children’s play area undergoing a major refurbishment, as well as new men’s toilets being created and a new disabled and Changing Places facility.

John added: “Our range of great stores and our onsite facilities, coupled with our commitment to serving the community through our charitable work and our programme of events and entertainment, means we’re offering real value to our customers and these figures prove testimony to that.

“We can’t wait to get our exciting plans for 2018 underway and build even further on these great results.”

Lakeside Village is home to more than 45 stores including Beauty Outlet, M&S Outlet, Clarks, Next Outlet and The Body Shop Outlet, as well as Thornton’s Café and Costa Coffee.

The centre is operated by asset managers Realm, specialists across the outlet retail and leisure property sectors, on behalf of the fund managers DTZ Investment Management for the landlord Kent County Council.
