'Significant milestone' reached for 150,000 sq ft logistics development in Doncaster

A new logistics development in Doncaster is making major progress as steelwork for the first 150,000 sq ft unit now completed.

This is the first phase of speculative development by db symmetry at Symmetry Park, where it has committed to deliver up to 721,000 sq ft of logistics space. An expected completion date for the development has been announced for July 2018.

db symmetry is working in collaboration with Bassetlaw District Council on the £60m scheme, which is located on a 54-acre site at Junction 34 of the A1(M).

The new scheme benefits from connectivity with direct motorway links and easy access to Doncaster Sheffield Airport and the East Coast Ports.

The site will be delivered in three phases and offers the option for a building footprint of up to 570,000 sq ft. It is expected that the scheme will support major employment in the area, creating an estimated 950 new jobs when fully completed.

The works being undertaken by db symmetry incorporate road improvements at the Junction as well as infrastructure work, including the installation of full site services and a new roundabout to the entrance of the site.

With the steel frame complete, appointed contractor Marshall Construction will commence exterior cladding, flooring and offices fit out of the unit.

Freddie Oakey, development surveyor at db symmetry, said: “We are pleased to reach this significant milestone at Symmetry Park Doncaster which represents our first venture into this market.

“We recognise that there is a severe shortage of high quality logistics space in the region and strongly believe that the strategic location and high-quality proposition of this scheme will be attractive to a range of national operators seeking a large regional depot.”

Symmetry Park, Doncaster is one of five speculative developments totalling 800,000 sq ft which db symmetry is currently committed to across the UK.

The Leeds offices of Dove Haigh Phillips, Colliers International and Savills are appointed to market the scheme.
