Sunderland's historic Bonded Warehouse to open its doors this month

Sunderland’s Bonded Warehouse is set to open its doors at the end of January.

The 19th century warehouse on the Fish Quay, Low Street is said to be a “great new addition” to the city’s food, drink and music scene.

The space will consist of two levels, a ground floor tank beer focused Tap House, and the upstairs warehouse will become a hub for weddings, gigs and events.

Michael Phillips, owner and managing director, said: “We’re starting as we mean to go on, as our opening weekend will also coincide with our first Bonded Sessions.

“[This is a] Friday/Saturday monthly event providing an opportunity for people to socialise all day into the early hours, with an extensive live music line-up, vast selection of craft beers, a pop up gin bar and an array of the best street food in the North East.”

A hefty street food lineup is to join the likes of Fat Hippo, new Fowl Play - as seen at Hadrian’s Tipi - and La Petite Crêperie, winner of Newcastle’s Small Business of the Year and many more.

The music sessions will run from 6pm to 1am Friday evening, returning from midday to 1am on Saturday.

February will also see the launch of their monthly ‘Sunday Club’, “showcasing the talents” of Michael Johnson, the executive chef, born and raised in Sunderland.
