Tyneside psychologists report surge in growth following new branding

North East Chartered Psychologists Tynemouth Therapy Clinic has launched a rebrand in response to an increased demand for its services in Tyne and Wear.

Tynemouth Therapy Clinic, based on Tynemouth Road, is to go by the name of Select Psychology, looking to open its doors to more people who are ready to seek professional mental health services.

The clinic – which currently has a team of seven clinical psychologists – also expects to triple its workforce in the next three years, looking to expand its reach in the North East. The firm believes this is the right time to relaunch as more people are discussing mental health.

Clinic director, Dr David Lowery, commented: “We believe it is a positive thing that people are becoming more aware of mental health issues and we firmly hope that the stigma of talking about mental health problems and visiting mental health professionals such as clinical psychologists continues to dissipate.

“Ultimately, we feel it would be helpful to society if mental health problems were viewed in the same way as visiting a medical doctor when we have physical problems.”

“We have been having a number of enquiries from the wider region and people are sometimes travelling longer distances to visit the clinic. This necessitated a name change to allow broader geographic locations without confusing people.”

The clinic, which has earned a trusted reputation of offering a forward-looking approach to therapy, encourages anyone who would like to talk to a professional to get in touch.

Dr Matilda Moffett, clinical psychologist and director, added: “Select Psychology offers two important things to customers.

“The first is to provide guidance and direction on the range of services available to assist with particular mental health problems enabling people to choose the most suitable route to care.

“And the second is to provide our patients with highly trained professionals to carry out those services.

“In the short term, we want to establish a broad range of mental health services and make sure they are widely available. We [also] hope to establish a charitable trust to make our services more widely available for the community beyond privately accessed services.”
