Theakston’s Website Shortlisted For Northern Digital Awards

A website designed for iconic Masham brewery T&R Theakston Ltd has been shortlisted for a regional digital award.

Designed by Wetherby-based NetConstruct, Theakston’s website is vying for the “Best Website” title at January’s Northern Digital Awards, being held in Leeds.

Net Construct’s challenge was to design a website for lovers of Theakston beer who increasingly use digital platforms to access information, broadening the appeal of Theakston to a wider target audience including the new generation of modern craft enthusiasts in a growing UK market, all the while protecting Theakston’s famous brand integrity, heritage and reputation.

From the start it was identified that design and cinematography were key to making people “feel” the brand, including its Yorkshire connection and its 191-year history.

The abundance of interactive content meant there were certain complexities in producing a modern website which represented the Theakston brand.

Since going live in June last year, the Theakston team have seen a sharp rise in interactivity from web visitors, increased page sessions on ale pages, and a 50 per cent increase in sales generated by the online shop.

The inclusion of a “pub locator” function has also been a factor in the increased time cyber users stay on the site, as well as pointing them in the right direction for venues serving Theakston ales.

Victoria Bramley, T&R Theakston Ltd’s Head of Marketing, said: “We are delighted that our new website has been shortlisted for the Northern Digital Awards, which is a testament to the quality of the website as a whole

“NetConstruct has created a superb website for us, one that fully satisfied the brief in appealing to an established clientele, whilst at the same time attracting a wider audience of existing and new modern craft beer enthusiasts.”

The 2018 Northern Digital Awards ceremony is being held at the New Dock Hall, Royal Armouries, Leeds, on Wednesday, January 31.
