Energy specialist joins £2m drive for Lancashire’s low-carbon future

Energy-focused advisory firm Businesswise Solutions has joined forces with a group of public- and private-sector organisations helping Lancashire businesses go green.

The £2m partnership, operating under the brand Chamber Low Carbon, is giving firms access to free services to help them improve efficiencies, cut their carbon footprint and save money.

Nelson-based Businesswise Solutions will spend the next three years working alongside the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and Lancashire County Council’s Boost programme to spread the benefits of the scheme across the county.

Frazer Durris, MD at Businesswise Solutions, said: “The Government has a long-term commitment to delivering a low-carbon future and has set a timeline of objectives to work towards.

“Chamber Low Carbon has been launched to tackle these objectives; helping Lancashire businesses to identify and deliver small scale efficiency saving opportunities as well as advising on future proof solutions to meet the demands of a low-carbon economy and increase renewable energy generation.”

He added: “With a wealth of successes in delivering energy improvement programmes to clients across multiple disciplines, we are very well placed to play a key role in the project and look forward to leading Lancashire to a better, low-carbon future.”

Companies signing up will receive support on environmental and energy-saving projects, delivered via masterclasses and one-to-one support such as on-site energy reviews.

Businesswise Solutions said Chamber Low Carbon will also help Lancashire firms working on new carbon-reducing technology access the grants and guidance they need.

East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce chief exec Miranda Barker commented: “We’re really looking forward to working with our partners across the county and bringing green benefits to both the environment and business community.”

Chamber Low Carbon is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
