Armsons celebrates its 45th anniversary

Leading Midlands cost consultants, project managers and building surveyors Armsons have celebrated their 45th anniversary.

The Derby-based company was established by Michael Armson to offer specialist quantity surveying expertise to private and public-sector clients across the region.

Over the past five decades, the business has expanded its service offering considerably in keeping with the changing requirements of both clients and the construction industry.

Armsons now deliver a range of core services, including project management, construction cost management and building surveying, to a diverse client base across a broad spectrum of sectors - including commercial, industrial, civil engineering, residential, healthcare, retail, sports and leisure, education and heritage.

Armsons prides itself on its proactive approach to all stages of a project, which coupled with its application of innovative solutions, adds value to the building procurement process.

Over the years, the firm has been involved in a series of award-winning schemes, including the transformation of the historic Roundhouse on Pride Park into a £51m engineering, technology and construction campus for Derby College; Glasshouse College – Ruskin Mill Trust, an FE College for young people with special learning needs, housed in the former Royal Doulton glass-factory in Stourbridge’s Glass Quarter and the 400 Hall, a state of the art flexible performance theatre for Repton Hall School.

Armsons can count some of the most experienced names in the industry amongst its strong team. Michael Armson and Stephen Fernie, who each have more than 35 years’ experience, are supported by Jonathan Heath, who is responsible for pre and post contract cost advice on projects principally within the education and commercial sectors, together with Sally Walters, an experienced building surveyor, project manager and contract administrator, who joined the company in 2016 to head-up its building surveying services division.

The company is currently expanding its surveying team and is looking to recruit a senior quantity surveyor with a broad range of experience.

Speaking of the company’s 45th anniversary, Michael Armson said:

“Looking back over the years, it’s clear that the company owes it longevity and continued growth to our team-based approach and commitment to our clients.

“As well as recruitment and retention of the highest calibre of staff, we work hard to establish a long-term relationship with clients.

“We employ people with extensive experience in their respective areas, who come together to share their skills and knowledge, which adds value to our service offering.

“We’ve always been committed to the continuing professional development of all staff, enabling them to reach their full potential. This enables us to provide all our clients with a consistently first-class service and achieve the most cost-effective delivery of their project objectives.”
