Husband-and-wife team from India acquire Lake District hotel for £1.1m
A hotel in the Lake District has been acquired by Indian investors.
Grizedale Lodge in Grizedale Forest, near Hawkshead, was purchased for £1.1m by Paramount United Ltd.
The deal is the first in the North West for the owners of Paramount United, entrepreneurial husband-and-wife team Gokul and Rashida Jaykrishna, from Ahmedabad.
The duo own similar properties in continental Europe and North America.
Grizedale Lodge is located between Lake Windermere and Coniston Water. A former hunting lodge, it comprises eight en-suite bedrooms along with a three-bedroom owners’ accommodation, gardens and parking space.
Haydn Spedding, associate director of hotels agency at the Manchester office of real estate advisory firm Colliers International, secured the sale on behalf of retiring owners Richard and Deborah Charley.
Haydn said: “We believe this represents our first sale of a Lake District guest house to an Indian investor.
“The acquisition highlights the increasing appeal of the region to international investors following it being awarded World Heritage Status by Unesco and an important place in which to invest outside of London and the South East of England.”
Speaking further, Haydn said Mr and Mrs Jaykrishna had not confirmed their plans for Grizedale Lodge.
