GMI Construction Group commits to North West with new office launch in Manchester city centre
GMI Construction Group has opened a new office in Manchester city centre seeing growth in projects across the North West region.
The Leeds-based company, which expects to achieve a £100m turnover next year, has acquired premises at 75 Dale Street in the Piccadilly Basin area of Manchester city centre.
As a result of the new office, 15 permanent staff positions have already been created.
Current contracts underway in Manchester include the Dakota Deluxe hotel for Evans Property Group and Burlington House, a residential development for Belgravia Living Group, with a combined value of approximately £40m.
Andy Bruce, managing director at GMI Construction Group, said: “We are pleased to announce our expansion with a physical presence in the North West. We operate cautiously and as a result have remained profitable for the 31 years that we have been established.
“However, our success in the region has been the result of long term investment and we now feel that the time is right to commit to a permanent base.”
Marc Banks, commercial director at GMI Construction Group, is heading up the team in Manchester.
He commented: “I am delighted to take leadership of our Manchester office with a view to developing new and existing relationships and growing our portfolio of work in the region.
“It is exciting to be located in a developing area of the city where we can directly view progress of our own work of the Dakota Deluxe Hotel and Burlington House.”
Established in 1986, GMI Construction Group is a building and construction services company offering expertise across all sectors including office, retail, leisure, industrial, residential, automotive, education and health.
Current projects underway include the £450m phase two development at Thorpe Park Leeds and St James Retail Park in Sheffield.
GMI Construction Group directly employs 80 people with 65 located at its Leeds headquarters.
