New Manager Announced at Luxury City Hotel

*Simon Mason say the customer is key as he takes the reigns at The Richmond Hotel * A new general manager has taken the reigns at a four star hotel in the heart of the city of Liverpool.

Following a series of high profile management positions in both luxury hotels and restaurants, Simon Mason has been announced as the person to lead the 70 strong team at the 152 bedroom/apartments Richmond Hotel, Hatton Garden.

Simon will be responsible for the delivery of excellent customer service and guest experience, as well as leading the quality of the food and beverage element of the hotel, which includes weddings, conference and the R Bar and Brasserie.

Simon said: “I’m thrilled to have taken up post as general manager and very much looking forward to getting to know the team and working with them on building the best customer stays we can. There is so much opportunity here and I’m very much looking forward to realigning with the Liverpool business community too.”

Simon takes the place of award-winning manager Joe Little whom recently stepped up into position of Operations Manager with Know Group - the parent company of The Richmond Hotel. Joe, who helped the team to achieve a Merseyside Independent Business (MIB) Award for ‘Best Place To Stay’ in 2017, will now oversee operations for both The Richmond and The Townhouse, Chester, as well as sister company Love Thy Neighbour which is due to open a third site this Spring.

Joe said: “I’ve loved working at The Richmond - it really is a very special hotel and I’m glad that in my new position I can continue to work with the wonderful team we have there.”

Simon, who was born in Chelmsford, started to train as an engineer before taking up a full time role at a Marriott Hotel and moving on to become a trainee manager. His passion for great food and service led him to a Michelin star restaurant and then as food and beverage manager at the former Reebok Stadium in Bolton.

His first venture into Liverpool was becoming operations manager at Holiday Inn at Lime Street where he stayed for four years. He said: “Liverpool is a great city - there is so much culture and so much to do, it’s truly thriving and vivacious! It’s great to embrace the city’s enthusiasm and sense of fun and translate that to visiting tourists through the way we deliver customer service. It’s definitely what I want to build up even further at The Richmond.”

Simon’s most recent role has been with the University of Manchester’s Chancellor Hotel and Conference Centre, where he looked after dozens of staff and delivered events across a number of sites including Whitworth Hall.

“All of my experience has taught me that customers are and should be at the heart of everything we do,” added Simon. “I like friendly, open service that achieves the best standards we can, while having fun along the way.”

CEO of The Know Group Steven Hesketh said: “Joe has left a fantastic legacy and Simon has a great amount of experience to help take over the reigns seamlessly here. We are a growing and ambitious company with lots in the pipeline so having someone like Simon on board is a great asset to the business and we’d like to officially welcome him to the team.”
