Five tier CSR plan for award-winning agency

Ilkley-based PR consultancy, Approach has pledged five Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments covering community, education, environment, charity and employee for 2018.

The seven-strong team, which takes real pride in its annual CSR activities, will kick-start with pledging to go green by reducing its use of single use plastics, committing to use solely recycled paper and introducing a new recycling system.

Approach has chosen to dedicate its charity activity to help tackle homelessness in both Bradford and Leeds. Later this year the team will be volunteering its time and donating resources to a number of charities looking for support through Street Support, a website connecting those looking for help and those willing to help.

The agency, which is in its seventeenth year in business, will also be launching ‘Approach Employability’ to coincide with the start of the new term in September. The team will be working with local schools in a variety of activities such as career talks, workshops and business challenges and has pledged to take on five placement students over the next 12 months.

Suzanne Watson, managing director at Approach, said: “This year we have decided to cover all bases with our yearly CSR commitment to make a real difference to the team and community around us. We have always taken real pride in supporting and developing the PR stars of the future so I’m particularly looking forward to getting stuck in to the education tier of our pledge - I think some of the team are even looking forward to going back to school!”

The community-spirited agency will also be offering its seventh year of free PR and social media support for Ilkley Carnival. This year’s TV theme will bring the local community together to celebrate the annual event on 7 May.

“Ilkley Carnival has always been a huge part of the Approach calendar and it’s a project we all truly support. Not only has our work for the carnival increased the feel-good factor within the business but it has completely raised the profile of the event and contributed hugely to the success of the cause which gives half of all profits to a charity or organisation each year,” Suzanne added.

With more than 25 business and industry awards, Approach specialises in media relations, social media, b2b and b2c public relations and event and campaign management for clients including Airedale Chemical, Acorn Stairlifts, United Carpets & Beds, Kirkgate Shopping and Whitakers Chocolates.
