Parkeon and Cale Reach Agreement
Parkeon, the world’s leading parking and ticketing services provider, and Sweden-based Cale, have reached agreement to join forces to create the world’s leading parking services and urban mobility company.
The combined business will provide significant and additional resources in key areas such as research and development, and will deliver the capacity to build on a worldwide customer base that currently stretches to more than 5,000 towns and Cities.
Parkeon and Cale had entered into exclusive negotiations in November last year and, with agreement reached, work is now underway to establish a new umbrella organisation.
Danny Hassett, Parkeon’s Regional Parking Director in the UK, will take over responsibility for the Cale business in the UK.
Mr Hassett confirmed that both the Parkeon and Cale brands will continue as separate entities in the parking services market place.
“For customers of Parkeon and Cale, it will be very much business as usual in terms of customer service and product line-up,” he said. “What customers will see over time is accelerated innovation in parking and payment-related systems as the company leverages the expertise of its enhanced design and R&D resources.
“There will also be a combined presence at key industry events and exhibitions.”
The merger between Parkeon and Cale builds on the organisations’ extensive international operations, with the enlarged group employing around 1,300 employees based largely in the UK, across Europe, Scandinavia and North America. The deal also provides an excellent ‘fit’ in terms of market strengths. Parkeon has strong market positions in Europe outside Scandinavia and in the rest of the world - particularly in emerging markets - while Cale has a strong presence in Scandinavia.
The new organisation will benefit from the expertise of more than 500 R&D engineers along with a significant increase in capacity for the development of hardware, software, sensor systems, machine-learning and AI, business Intelligence, Information Security, UI/UX design and mobile development.
“This will help create ‘smarter’ urban areas by developing digital technologies that optimise the value of parking systems, providing benefit to towns and cities, parking operators and end users across the UK,” said Mr Hassett.
