Collaboration Creates Fair Opportunity at Macclesfield Town Hall

Macclesfield College will join employers, universities, training providers, colleges and more than 1000 high school students at Macclesfield Town Hall between 11am and 6pm next Wednesday (7th February) for a Macclesfield Pledge Careers Fair.

A pioneering collaboration between education, business and the voluntary sector in Macclesfield and the surrounding areas, Macclesfield Pledge aims to enhance employability, skills and job prospects for young people in and around Macclesfield, helping them convert their studies and aspirations into careers that realise their ambition and utilise their talents.

As a key education and training provider in Macclesfield, with provision that includes vocational learning, foundation courses, degrees, apprenticeships and employability skills, Macclesfield College already has well-established partnerships with local schools and businesses across Cheshire and beyond.

The Macclesfield Pledge Careers Fair will provide an opportunity for students and their parents and carers to find out more about what Macclesfield College has to offer and how the College works with employers and training providers. It will also enable them to engage with a wide mix of education, training, employment and voluntary sector providers, helping them focus on opportunities that suit their skills and goals.

More than 50 employers will attend the event and, alongside the 1000 students that will visit Macclesfield Town Hall with their schools, the Careers Fair will be open to the public enabling young people, their parents and carers and adults considering their next career move to find out more about local opportunities.

In addition to showcasing what Macclesfield College has to offer, the College’s role on the day will be to provide front of house support and look after both employer delegates and visitors.

This is a must-visit event for any young person looking at next steps and career options and the organisers would urge people to make it if they can as it’s the perfect opportunity to get inspired about jobs, education and training. The quietest time is likely to be between 3.15 and 6pm but all visitors are welcome any time between 11am and 6pm.

Trevor Langston from Macclesfield Pledge added: “Since Macclesfield Pledge was launched in February 2016, we have had significant success in connecting employers, training providers and young people, creating opportunity that benefits our local and regional economy.

“Working alongside Crewe Pledge and Middlewich Pledge we can really make a difference to the way in which education, training and business work together and this event is just one example of that focus on collaboration and engagement.”

Any employers that would like to attend the careers fair can book a place by contacting Trevor Langston on 07595 496400 or by emailing trevor.langston@sccci.co.uk
