Hotel on Lake District’s Coniston Water comes to market for £2m

A hotel overlooking Coniston Water in the Lake District has hit the market with a seven-figure price tag.

Real estate advisory firm Colliers International is seeking offers above £2m for Waterhead Hotel, a Victorian manor house used as tourist accommodation for more than 100 years.

Waterhead Hotel comprises 24 en suite bedrooms along with a restaurant and space for weddings, conferences, meetings and other events.

The property is set within landscaped grounds extending to around four acres, including lake frontage and a jetty on Coniston Water.

Julian Troup, head of UK hotels agency at Colliers, said: “We are delighted to bring Waterhead Hotel to the market. It is an established and well-known hotel operating with a healthy trading base.

“We are anticipating a favourable response to the marketing, particularly bearing in mind it is so rare to see a Lakeland hotel with actual lake frontage coming to the market.”

He continued: “We have seen significant demand from both domestic and overseas buyers keen to acquire UK provincial hotels and the Lake District continues to be our most productive area of demand.

“We are already experiencing heightened demand for the Lakes on the back of it recently being designated a UNESCO world heritage site, being one of the UK’s premier tourist destinations.”

Post Office Fellowship of Remembrance is the current owner of the venue.
