HANDCRAFTED RIBBONS APPEAL TO HELP RAISE £10,000 FOR CANCER SUPPORT IN THE REGION

NORTH EAST cancer charity FACT (Fighting All Cancers Together) is appealing for people to make 10,000 crafted cancer ribbons to help raise money and to support the vital work offered to help those who’ve been affected by cancer in the region.

To celebrate the charity’s 10th anniversary, FACT is aiming to collect 10,000 crafted ribbons by the end of August 2018, which will be displayed at a location yet to be revealed. The ribbons will then be sold for £1 to raise a target of £10,000, creating funds that will have a significant impact on the future of FACT and the services it provides.

Founder and CEO at FACT, Joanne Smith, said: “The crafted cancer ribbon appeal is something individuals, groups and work colleagues can get involved with, and it can be as simple or as complex as people would like.

“The crafted ribbons can be made from plastic, metal, felt, beads or anything people can get their hands on – no matter how big or small. We’re looking to collect 10,000 of these to mark our 10th birthday.

“I’m over the moon with how far the charity has come since launching in 2008, and this year, to celebrate our birthday, we’ll be running a number of fundraising events and activities around the ‘10’ theme. From a dog walk and wig walk to a bounce-a-thon and film screening, 2018 is set to be an exciting year for FACT.”

FACT provides essential support services including everything from counselling for children and adults, social events, awareness sessions, mastectomy bra fitting evenings, fitness classes, pampering and beauty sessions to providing ‘kindness kits’ of essentials such as toiletries, food and clothing for those facing financial pressures during treatment.
