Care home resident celebrates landmark birthday

Staff and residents at a Hull care home recently came together to help celebrate a landmark birthday of one of their residents.

With the help of her family members, fellow residents and care home staff at Raleigh Court, Audrey Homes marked her 100th birthday.

As well as throwing Audrey a party, everyone came together to make her a cake as well a special banner to mark the occasion.

Raleigh Court activity coordinator Carla Taylor also took Audrey shopping, so that she had a new outfit to wear for the party.

Audrey’s two children Janet and Richard came to help celebrate the occasion. As well as her party, Audrey was able to commemorate her birthday with a special message from The Queen.

Katie Daysley, Raleigh Court manager said: “Residents and staff had a fantastic day celebrating Audrey’s birthday. She really enjoyed her special day, surrounded by friends and family.

“It was lovely to see her spending time with her two children Janet and Richard who she’s very close to. Everyone came together to make sure she had a memorable day.”

Penni Brown, chief executive of Hica Group, said: “Staff across all of the Hica Group always do their best to go the extra mile.

“Audrey’s birthday is a perfect example of this. Both the staff and residents at Raleigh Court worked hard to make sure Audrey had a birthday to remember. I’m very pleased that she enjoyed her birthday and was able to mark the occasion with her loved ones, fellow residents and staff.”

Raleigh Court is part of the not for profit Hica Group, which operates a portfolio of 15 residential care homes, five of which are for people with a learning disability, along with two retirement villages. The company also runs a home care service providing approximately 11,500 hours of support and care from four regional offices in the North of England.
