The Telford Centre flushed with success

Staff at the Telford Centre are flushed with pride after scooping a top toilet award.

The Telford Centre received the highest possible accolade in the independently run Loo of the Year awards.

The centre was awarded platinum certification for its facilities.

The award, which marked its 30th anniversary, recognises and rewards the very best in ‘away from home’ washrooms, with thousands of locations being entered each year.

For the third year in a row, The Telford Centre has been awarded a platinum star rating for its facilities.

Fran Woffinden, Operations Manager said: “We are extremely delighted to have been presented a national award for our facilities.

“Our aim is to ensure visitors to the centre have a pleasant experience – and our facilities are an essential part of this.

“Staff at the centre work hard to ensure that our facilities are in first class conditions at all times, and I’m pleased that their efforts have been recognised by the inspectors.”

Every entrant in the awards received an unannounced visit from a Loo of the Year Inspector, who asses the facilities against over 100 judging criteria, from fixtures and fittings to cleanliness and management.

Facilities are graded from bronze to platinum, with a platinum grading given to outlets that offer exceptional toilet facilities.

At more than 1 million sq ft, the Telford Centre is one of the UK’s largest covered shopping centres, boasting a huge range of fashion, food and homewares in more than 160 stores, including big names House of Fraser, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Zara, Next, H&M, Boots and TGI Friday’s.
