Gorton production campus Space Studios opens 30,000 sq ft sound stage
Space Studios Manchester has launched a new 30,000 sq ft sound stage.
The facility, SPACE 06, measures 212 ft by 140 ft and reaches a height of 40 ft.
It is geared towards global film, TV and content producers, offering I-beams for rigging, a dedicated service yard with power and water, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and hard wired IT infrastructure.
Serving SPACE 06 are 18 units housing supply chain businesses that provide production support for both onsite and offsite clients.
Space Studios’ director of screens and facilities, Colin Johnson, said: “From the start our ambition has been to attract world class productions to Manchester and Space 06’s arrival offers our clients even more opportunity to produce high end television and film in the best possible facilities.
“With this expansion to Space Studios it means we can provide not just stages but an entire supply chain of support for studio and location-based productions across the North of England.”
The 17-acre Space Studios site in Gorton is now home to more than 90,000 sq ft of new buildings.
A number of popular TV programmes have been filmed on the campus since it opened in 2014, including The A Word (BBC One), Mount Pleasant (Sky One), Coronation Street (ITV) and Dragons’ Den (BBC Two).
