Newtons Solicitors expands into new North East offices with 'significant' hires

Newtons Solicitors has begun 2018 by further expanding in the Stockton and Durham areas.

Newtons Solicitors has announced plans to develop a full-service office in Stockton, following the successful opening of its latest branch.

The company has also recently made some significant hires, as it devotes more money into the area. The brand-new office of Newtons in Stockton has had much support and interest from Stockton agents and the local community.

Jackie Howard and her team have been appointed to start building the Stockton office of Newtons. Jackie was previously at Freers Askew Bunting Solicitors, and specialises in residential property transactions.

Andrew Cawkwell, insolvency and turnaround director of Newtons Solicitors, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Jackie and her team to the firm.

“The new office has had a great start. It’s already offering a hugely valuable service to clients and we look forward to investing further in the area, by making it a full-service office.”

The firm has also welcomed Rory Gibson, a former branch manager at Handelsbanken to its Durham office. He is to introduce the firm to businesses in the Durham, Stockton and Darlington areas.

Located at the Rivergreen Centre, Aykley Heads, the Durham-based office of Newtons made a profit after only two months of being opened in autumn 2017 by insolvency and turnaround specialist and director, Andrew Cawkwell, with senior commercial property solicitor, James McEwen.

Andrew Cawkwell, director of Newtons Solicitors, added: “The office in Durham has quickly gone from strength-to-strength.

“We are delighted to welcome Rory Gibson and we’re taking on extra office space, to accommodate the further new recruits that we plan to appoint this year.”

The team have seen a number of significant client wins and panel appointments, including Atom Bank and Northumbrian Water.

Chris Newton, managing director of Newtons Solicitors, concluded: “An important part of delivering our expansion plans is making sure we have the right people in the right places.

“Our new hires mean we can continue with our planned growth as well as deliver a fantastic service to our clients.
