Pure Gym set to open 200th UK gym after reaching one million members

Pure Gym has reached the one million members milestone as it announces plans to open the chain’s 200th gym in the UK.

The Leeds-headquartered gym operator reported a 22% growth in members since the start of 2017 - a year which also saw Pure Gym open 20 new gyms.

In 2018, Pure Gym has already opened seven new clubs and will open its 200th gym in the UK in Brighton in March.

The latest site will provide flexible, no-contract access, new equipment and more than 50 weekly group classes from £14.99 per month.

Pure Gym was launched in 2009 and members pay monthly with no contract commitment. Most of its 200 gyms are open 24 hours a day and offer a full range equipment including cardiovascular equipment, fixed-resistance and free weights.

In November 2017, affiliates of California-based Leonard Green & Partners, L.P. acquired a controlling interest in the business.
