CRL announces annual growth with expansion across three further countries

Construction insurance specialist, CRL, has announced 25% year on year growth, releasing revenue figures for last year of £31m. In addition, it announced a 20 per cent increase in properties registered in 2017 compared to the previous calendar year.

CRL, which is headquartered in the Heron Tower, London, has also announced further expansion into three key nations in the first quarter of the year; Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland. With reputed industry leaders hired to run two of the three new offices, the announcement demonstrates CRL’s belief in the strength of the construction sector, despite negative news surrounding the industry as a whole.

CRL has also made three key appointments; former NHBC Finance Director, Richard Tamayo has joined the Board as Non-Executive Director, industry stalwart Alan Kirkwood joins from global insurance broker, AJG, to lead the Scottish office, and current Area Manager for Wales, Lloyd Williams, will lead the Welsh office. These appointments demonstrate CRL’s clear ambition to continue the sustained, strategic growth it has seen since its inception in 2011.

Steve Mansour, Chief Executive Officer at CRL, commented, “Our figures show that the industry is reacting positively to current economic shifts and we are keen to support this. Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland are all key markets that we believe will continue to grow throughout the year. As a result, now is the time to increase our presence in these countries, and offer them the support and services they need when looking to develop innovative homes.

“The new appointments to the business reflect this and will only serve to bolster our position as one of the leading construction insurance specialists for builders and developers of all sizes, but in particular, SMEs. Many were badly affected during the recession, but we have seen the sector embrace technological change and these will be the industry leaders that we need to look towards to ensure we are developing for the future. It’s time to champion the SME and we will be at the forefront of this.”

The increase CRL experienced in 2017 follows similar figures from 2016, which saw a 17 per cent increase in properties registered and a 28 per cent increase on revenue. CRL is a construction insurance and warranty specialist, which arranges structural defects insurance for the end customer, both direct or via their preferred intermediary, to protect thousands of new ventures throughout the UK and Ireland. CRL works across a varied and complex range of builds, from large scale developments to diverse projects including timber frame constructions, prefabricated properties, mixed-use projects, conversions and insolvent properties.
