Telford Shopper wins £1,000 spree

A Newport shopper is celebrating after scooping a £1,000 spending spree. Olly Cartwright won the prize in a competition organised as part of the Telford Centre’s Christmas event.

Olly said: “I am over the moon, this is a great way to start the year.

“I was taken completely by surprise when I got the phone call to say I’d won £1,000. When you enter competitions like these, you never actually expect to win.

“A shopping spree is most definitely on the cards, and my family have already provided suggestions on what to spend the gift card on. Personally I reckon the win would keep me in individual Greggs’ sausage rolls for around three years!

“It would be nice to put the money towards a family summer adventure.”

The competition was open to shoppers in the Centre during December, who were asked to complete a competition form and post it into the Christmas gift box. The winning entry was selected at random to receive a £1,000 Telford Centre gift card.

The Telford Centre gift card can be used throughout the Centre against purchases within stores that operate a swipe credit card facility, including shops, restaurants and cafes and travel agents.

He added: “I love Telford and come into the centre regularly, there’s such a good range of brands - from fashion to food to choose from.

“The new bus station and Fashion Quarter development will be great additions to the centre. I remember the centre back in the 1980’s and 1990’s and it’s unrecognisable. The redevelopment has created a vibrant heart to Telford.”

Katie Broome, marketing manager at The Telford Centre, said: “We are delighted for Olly, it’s great to hear how much he enjoys shopping at Telford and how he plans to spend the prize.

“2018 is set to be an exciting year for the centre, with the arrival of new stores and the continued development of the bus station and Northern Quarter.”
