Fourth Edinburgh deal for Yorkshire developer
A York-based development company has expanded its presence in Edinburgh with the acquisition of an office building on Osborne Terrace. It’s the fourth project that S Harrison has become involved with in the City recently.
S Harrison has purchased Osborne House from Osborne Terrace Limited for an undisclosed sum. The four storey building is currently let to a number of tenants including the care, education and employment disabilities services provider, Capability Scotland.
Located in a prominent corner position Osborne House benefits from excellent transport connections with its close proximity to the Haymarket tram stop and railway station and numerous bus routes that pass immediately outside it.
The acquisition signals further investment in Edinburgh for the development company, which completed work on a prominent Edinburgh development in 2016. S Harrison transformed a site on Leith Walk, that was formally part of Edinburgh’s original Botanic Gardens, into a £23million, 240 bedroom, retail and student accommodation scheme, known as Haddington Place.
S Harrison has also recently secured planning permission to convert Buchan House, a historic Grade A listed building on St Andrew Square, into a stunning new 72-bedroom hotel. In addition, the development firm has purchased a site on the waterfront in Leith, and is currently exploring several other exciting opportunities in and around Edinburgh.
S Harrison’s managing director, Ann Scott, says: “We have a proven track-record for successfully delivering schemes for the office, retail, hotel, student and housing markets.
“Well-known in Yorkshire, the North-East and Midlands in particular, but with a growing presence in both the South of England and Scotland, we have become the development partner of choice on a wide range of notable schemes.
“We are anticipating a sound set of financial results for 2017, and are extremely confident in our future performance, due to an excellent development pipeline which our experienced team has worked hard to build over the last 12 months.
“Acquiring Osborne House is the latest in a number of Edinburgh-based projects for us. We are delighted to be playing a part in the growth of one of the UK’s main business centres and most popular tourist destinations. It’s an extremely important market for us and one that we’re keen to expand our presence in further during 2018.”
