'Leading' retailers sign on to The Moor development in Sheffield city centre

Next, Gap and New Look are set to join the line-up at The Moor development in Sheffield city centre, as well as bowling leisure operator Lane7.

Phil Huby, head of retail at Aberdeen Standard Investments, said: “We have been able to secure these leading occupiers in the market due to our continued commitment to Sheffield and the 22% increase in footfall during 2017 when we recorded 11.2 million visitors to The Moor.”

Next is set to take a 42,000 sq ft store over three floors in the old BHS, located at the centre of the scheme opposite Primark (80,000 sq ft).

Gap’s 9,000 sq ft outlet is due to open in Phase 2 in April. Phase 2 launched with Primark, followed by Specsavers and the Light Cinema.

A 16,000 sq ft New Look outlet is set to sit alongside anchor fashion tenant H&M (36,000 sq ft). Demolition and refurbishment on this block starts this summer aiming for trading 2019.

Phil added: “The restaurants in this block so far include Pizza Express, Nandos, GBK and Zizzi’s trading since Spring/Summer 2017, and there will be more news re additional cafes and restaurants to complete this block. JD Sports (13,000 sq ft) opened in December last year and was welcomed with much local attention and is trading well.”

“We are also keen to ensure the leisure offers compliment the area and the city. Lane7 (15,000sq ft) will be a great addition to Phase 3 helping to provide a variety of leisure options to shoppers giving more reasons to increase their dwell time on The Moor.”

“The level of Interest in the scheme and the environment we can offer on The Moor is both reassuring and exciting. It demonstrates confidence that we are providing what the occupational market and consumer want.”

Charlie Snow, operations manager at Lane7, also commented: “We can’t wait to roll into The Moor, Sheffield. We’ll be bringing the whole shebang…..walnut bowling lanes, retro arcades, karaoke, ping pong, pool and a full bar offer. It’s going to be next level – watch this space!”

The Moor is a 25 acre, 1.5m sq ft development scheme of which 900,000 sq ft is retail.

Phase 1 opened in 2013 with the new Moor Market run by Sheffield City Council in a building with nine units owned by Aberdeen Standard Investments that are now occupied by tenants such as TJ Hughes, The Entertainer and Sweat Union Gym.
