Dacres limbers up to sponsor Fountains 10k run for a second year

An event that will see more than 550 adults and children take part in two runs to raise money for Fountains CE Primary School has received backing from property firm Dacre, Son & Hartley, for a second year in a row. The Fountains 10K sold out three months in advance of the race, which is taking place at 11am on Sunday 29th April, and there are just a few places left for the 2K fun run, which takes place on the same day at 10am. Last year £10,000 was raised to buy and install a new interactive screen in the school hall and also provide additional laptops to support the childrens’ learning. The organisers of the runs are hoping to raise a similar amount this year. Race director, Mark Reed, says: “It’s the twentieth anniversary of this ever-popular event, and we are delighted that Dacres is supporting us once again. The popularity of The Fountain 10K run has continued to grow year on year, and to have sold out so far in advance is testament to this. “The 10K course has a mixed terrain, including country roads, off-road trails and scenic moorland. The race starts and finishes in Grantley, and we are expecting the course record, which is 35 minutes, to be beaten this year. “The fun run is just over 2K, starting and finishing in the village playground. The route is along a very quiet rural road, through privately owned fields, and is open to people of all ages and abilities.” Yorkshire and England cricketer Ryan Sidebottom will be running, and other sponsors include GoPrint3D, Kettlewell Fuels, Grantley Hall, Dales Water Services, Yorkshire Vintners and Mud and Blood. Area manager and senior associate, Chris O’Mahony, from Dacre Son & Hartley’s Ripon branch says: “Our firm has operated in Ripon for 40 years and is the top performing agent in the area. Over the years we have become heavily involved with the community and have numerous sponsorship agreements with local sports clubs and charitable groups. “Last year we were very impressed with the organisation of the Fountains 10K and 2K fun run. The spirit of the event and the sheer number of people who take part to help raise funds for the school, many of whom don’t have a direct link with it, was also very inspiring. As well as the financial support, a team from our Ripon branch will be attending the event handing out goodie bags and providing a raffle prize.” Dacre Son & Hartley’s Ripon branch currently sponsors North Stainley Cricket Club, Studley Royal Cricket Club and Ripon Rugby Club, including a player sponsorship of Ben Buckley, who works for the firm as a sales negotiator.
