Jones Bros helps provide kit for young footballers

Budding footballers in a town with many connections to Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK employees have received support from the company.

The company has helped to buy two sets of shirts for the U7s team at Corwen FC, based in a town close to its head office in Ruthin.

One of the oldest football clubs in Wales, Corwen FC has in recent years built a well-regarded junior academy for both boys and girls.

The club’s connections with the company include staff who play in senior teams, and, more specifically for this investment, employees’ children who belong to junior academy sides.

Thanks to the company’s support, training kit and first team kit have now been bought for the U7 team, which was formed two years ago.

The civil engineering company is well known for partnering with sporting teams and cultural projects both home and away.

Jones Bros regional manager, North Wales & the North West, Hefin Lloyd Davies, said: “The company believes in supporting communities where it operates, and where its employees live.

“We are pleased to assist another local team, in particular one which is giving opportunity to young people. Team sport is so effective at helping children and young people develop skills and confidence. We hope that having a smart new kit will help the children feel proud of their team and professional when facing their opponents!”

Corwen FC secretary Huw Jones said: “We have a strong family ethos in Corwen and being sponsored by a family-run company like Jones Bros is excellent. Hopefully it will be a start of a long-term relationship between Corwen FC and the company.”

The club, which plays in the Welsh National League premier division, can trace its history back to 1877.
