North Yorkshire manufacture creates 10 new jobs after completing work on £1m warehouse project

Cod Beck Blenders, the toll and contract manufacturer, has completed a six month, £1m project to create additional warehousing facilities at its purpose-built eight acre site in North Yorkshire.

The company’s operation in Dalton, Thirsk, has been expanded with the addition of a new 975m2 warehouse and access road, supported by a grant from the Let’s Grow Regional Growth Fund.

A further 10 jobs have been created as a result, increasing the total workforce to 130 employees.

Established in 1988, Cod Beck Blenders has now added almost 50% to its former storage capacity, creating a further 1,450 pallet spaces.

The new warehouse features a combination of standard pallet racking and drive-in high storage density racking. The principle contractor was HACS in Ripley.

Working across a wide range of sectors, Cod Beck Blender serves blue chip clients in the pharmaceutical, agricultural, agrochemical, horticultural and fine chemical industries.

Steven Meyer, managing director of Cod Beck Blenders, said: “With demand for our services from both existing and new customers continuing to grow, we needed to increase our capacity by enlarging our storage facilities.

“The ability to choose from small order picking to storage of large volumes of raw materials, gives us greater flexibility, helping us to plan production more efficiently. It will also improve our plant effectiveness and enable us to respond quickly to our customers’ changing needs.

“What’s more, the expansion also gives us room for future growth as we continue to invest in our North Yorkshire site.”

The Let’s Grow programme provides grant support for capital investment projects that will create new, sustainable jobs in North Yorkshire, the City of York and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
