Gateshead firm named among Top 100 in Northern Tech Awards

IT specialist Aspire Technology Solutions have secured a place in the highly-coveted GP Bullhound’s Northern Tech Top 100, a ranking of the North and Scotland’s 100 fastest growing companies.

The awards are an annual event showcasing the fastest-growing and most promising technology firms in the North and Scotland. Running since 2011 the annual, invitation-only event has been hosted in several cities over the years, with 2018’s awards evening taking place in Edinburgh. Aspire joins the ranks of notable North East tech companies such as Hedgehog Lab, Bdaily and ZeroLight, which have all made the prestigious cut.

The Gateshead-based firm, founded in 2006 by Chairman Nigel Begg and Managing Director Chris Fraser, has enjoyed rapid year-on-year growth and now employs over 150 staff, with offices in Gateshead and London. The company specialises in managed services and IT infrastructure solutions, and earlier this year celebrated the success of salesman Paul Shill in winning one of the company’s biggest contracts to date with One IT, where they provide broadband to over 150 schools around the region.

Nigel Begg, Aspire’s Chairman and co-founder, said, “Aspire are delighted to once again be shortlisted in the Northern Tech Awards: this is further proof that we are delighting our customers with record service levels and a team of people that are constantly striving to delight our customers with innovative tech solutions which make a real difference to their businesses. Without the support and loyalty of our team and our customers this would not be possible.

“We are working towards our Mission 2020 aims, a five-year strategy for growth which predicts annual turnover of £20m by 2020 by delivering business advantage to clients, and a potential employee number of 200. Last year, key business activity included development of our sales channel – we have 90 such tie-ins nationwide and are aiming for 800 – as well as investment in training and development, best-ever focus on customer service and satisfaction, and delivery of an exceptional product.

“Through this we have developed innovative business creation strategies, advanced our influence further into new UK markets, and met client expectations through cutting edge technology and first-class customer support. We are proud to have grown our workforce to over 150 team members and delivered 20% growth year on year.”

The Top 50 and individual award winners such as the Tech4Good Award, Northern Star Award and Fastest Growing Company Award will be announced at an invitation-only evening on Thursday March 22nd at The Hub in Edinburgh.
