Velocity Smart launches world first locker solution promising to bring consumer level ‘click and collect’ to enterprise

IT solutions provider Velocity Smart Technology has unveiled its innovative new product, Velocity Smart Lockers, that will save businesses millions of pounds a year by cutting IT support costs and removing downtime for workers by replacing faulty IT equipment in under a minute.

The lockers are the world’s first to integrate with ServiceNow and introduces a new ‘click and collect’ smart locker service for businesses.

The smart locker concept was initially conceived to solve the problem of 24/7 automated support for journalists, which Velocity identified while working with Trinity Mirror.

But the Velocity Smart Lockers have now been developed further to be used within a number of sectors from IT, retail and health – among others.

Anthony Lamoureux, co-founder of Velocity, said: “In businesses all around the world, the downtime involved with raising an IT support ticket, the inherent delay getting it to the right team and the time it takes waiting for someone to come and actually fix your problem or deliver new equipment, can be considerable.

Whether you are borrowing forgotten items, collecting new equipment or even replacing a faulty laptop with one configured personally for you, this system removes the need to call the IT department or find a local support engineer. You simply raise a ticket through your service portal – at any time of the day or night – and our solution will automatically assign the item for collection so you can start work immediately.“

He added: “Our smart lockers go beyond just IT support though and can be used to create a transparent audit trail within any supply chain, whether it’s in retail, manufacturing or in healthcare for high value medical devices or as a delivery service for prescriptions. In fact, we can see a future where Velocity Smart Lockers improves any collection or delivery activity in every aspect of our work and personal lives.”
