War on waste funds community projects

A national waste management company has donated more than £70,000 to community projects in the Salisbury area over the past year.

CSG, the UK’s leading supplier of specialist waste management solutions, has presented grants to four regional organisations, to help improve facilities for local people.

Salisbury Rugby Football Club received £25,000 to fund the building of new changing room facilities; while Salisbury Parkour Club was given £16,500 to build the county’s first parkour course.

A grant of £25,000 will help towards the creation of the new Whiteparish Skatepark and, just over the Hampshire border, Godshill Village Hall has benefited from £4,000 to enable repairs and improvements to the hall’s roof.

All of the projects have been funded through CSG’s landfill tax funds, where the Government allows companies to invest money that would otherwise be paid in taxes into charity or community projects. Over the lifetime of the scheme, CSG has donated almost £1.8million in the South Coast region.

CSG managing director Neil Richards said: “We are very proud to be able to support voluntary organisations, clubs and charities in the communities we serve, and each of these projects will deliver real benefits to their neighbourhoods.

“We are especially pleased to be funding a number of sport and activity centres, encouraging young people and families to lead more active lives across the region.”

From its headquarters in Fareham, CSG operates more than 20 facilities across the UK, with a team of drivers, operatives and specialist consultants working together on the goal of diverting waste from landfill, recovering and recycling as much as possible.
