Architects chosen for 22-storey residential tower in South London

Building group Watkin Jones has appointed architects on a residential tower scheme in South London.

Brock Carmichael, which has UK offices in Liverpool and London, will design the 165-unit development for Watkin Jones’ built-to-rent (BTR) division.

Located on Sutton Court Road near Sutton Station, the building will provide a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments across 22 storeys.

The lower 10 floors will contain 10 apartments per level and the upper half will have seven per floor.

A roof terrace and residents’ facilities will be located on the tenth floor, while concierge facilities and a management suite will be based at ground level.

The tower will also include lower ground level car parking and bicycle storage space.

Chris Bolland, managing partner at Brock Carmichael, said: “This is an exciting site, in prime commuter belt and it will be a very desirable address.

“Floor plans have been designed with extensive thought on flexibility and the intelligent use of the space available.”

He continued: “We have worked on a number of BTR schemes recently and we are bringing this experience together with Watkin Jones’ team’s in-depth construction expertise to employ the latest building and construction methods to ensure a successful project.

“It is great to be working with such an innovative and visionary organisation.”

Gwyn Pritchard, deputy managing director of Watkin Jones BTR, commented: “After delivering three successful schemes in Leeds and Sheffield, and many more in the pipeline we are looking forward to working with Brock Carmichael and the construction teams to bring new homes to Sutton.”

Work is due to begin this spring.
