New £50m residential scheme in Leeds reports 'excellent' sales performance

A £50m residential apartment scheme in Leeds has seen an “excellent sales performance”.

JM Construction (Leeds) Ltd, which is developing the new scheme, said that 68 (79%) of the 86 apartments in phase one at the Victoria Riverside development in Hunslet have already been sold.

John Mulleady, the company’s Managing Director, commented: “Since commencing work on-site at the end of last summer there has been lots of interest which is reflected in the excellent sales performance.

“We expect this to improve further as the scheme continues to take shape and buyers can see at first-hand what is being created.”

Victoria Riverside is located on Goodman Street in Hunslet and is a sympathetic conversion of the former Hunslet and Victoria flax spinning mills, which have laid derelict for over 40 years.

On completion, the scheme will extend to 330 apartments comprising a mix of one, two and three bedroom units. The plans also include rooftop penthouses and a convenience store to increase the general amenities available within the Hunslet Riverside area.

The phased delivery plan is expected to take four years to complete.

The site was recently visited by representatives from Leeds City Council including Martin Farrington, director of City Development.

Mr Farrington said: “It is wonderful to see these old buildings being brought back to life given their major historical significance.

“JM Construction is to be applauded for their vision and commitment to such an ambitious project which will contribute to the wider regeneration of this part of the city and provide much-needed housing.”
