Entrepreneur sets up 'inspirational' firm for regional businesses

After struggling with her self-confidence in the past, a businesswoman has set up a new consultancy to help people in the region reach their true potential.

Steph Edusei, from New Hartley, has enjoyed a two-decade career including successfully holding managerial positions in some of the North East’s biggest companies including the NHS and Healthwatch Newcastle.

Her experience in leading, management and coaching, as well as her own life experiences, have now inspired her to start her own management consultancy, A New View.

The business aims to provide support, guidance and training to anyone who wants to achieve more and fulfil their business ambitions.

With skills and knowledge acquired over her years in business, Steph believes she can help anyone improve their self-confidence and reach their potential, leaving the shackles of other people’s expectations behind.

Steph is from a mixed-race background. In her childhood, she remembers struggling to feel wholly accepted by her community sometimes, resulting in her to doubt her own abilities.

She firmly believes that listening to other people’s negative expectations of her led to her placing limitations on herself – limitations she’s worked hard to eliminate.

Steph, who also works as a guide leader and dance instructor in her spare time, said: “If only I could go back in time and talk to my 16-year-old self. I know it would have made a big difference to my whole life.

“I spent a long time struggling with my self-image and doubting what I could achieve. Confidence and self-belief are vital to personal development.

“I want to make a difference to people’s lives, whatever their sex, race, lifestyle or background. I want to help people to implement changes on a very personal level that will enable them to move forward and achieve their ambitions.”

Steph is a strong advocate of ethical business practices and cultural diversity in the workplace.

Through coaching and workshops, she enables people to maximise on their strengths and build skills in their weaker areas. She is particularly keen to work with people from traditionally disadvantaged backgrounds.

In the future, she hopes to offer some of her services on a free-of-charge basis to those most in need of them.
