Wakefield live events production facility expands with seven figure funding package
A 300,000 sq ft live events production facility in Wakefield is set to expand due to a seven figure funding package from HSBC.
Production Park features three rehearsal studios, over 15 events businesses and the UK’s only Live Events Production University Centre, Backstage Academy.
HSBC’s funding package has supported Production Park in expanding through the acquisition and development of new buildings.
This expansion is set to attract more event production businesses to relocate to the facility. It will also result in more storage space for sets and equipment at the growing site.
The facility is already home to a group of engineering, technology and creative specialist businesses. The rehearsal studios on-site bring a variety of world class tours and productions to the park as well as providing space for test builds.
Recent clients visiting the facility include Coldplay, Kasabian, Biffy Clyro and alt-J.
Lee Brooks, Production Park CEO, said: “The live events industry is booming and we are constantly developing new creative and audio-visual techniques to produce more immersive and more spectacular events.
“Our facility houses everything for the live events industry on one site; enabling big ideas, big productions and big creations to be nurtured, developed and realised in one place so the sky is the limit!
“Our business is growing at a spectacular rate and we have seen a 340% increase in the number of people employed here in the last four years. This growth is expected to continue as we expand our site and geographical reach, initially in the creative industries market in Europe, then further afield to the USA, Middle East and Asia.”
Tom Sikora, HSBC’s relationship director for West and South Yorkshire, added: “Production Park is a rapidly growing and ambitious facility which brings world class musical talent to Yorkshire and is committed to developing the next generation of events professionals.
“We’re delighted to support the business in the next stage of its development and growth on the world stage.”
